The Red Hulk vs. Two Jedi

Hello Interwebs! This is my present to you today: The Red Hulk vs. Two Jedi. Clearly from Star Wars I (as indicated by the purple plasma field and the color of their lightsabers). You are welcome. Don’t say I never gave you nothing!

Oh, and as a side note? Star Wars and Marvel are both Disney property now. So this scene? It could actually happen. Yep. This is me blowing your mind…

Peace – I’m out,

– Josh

Parasha Bo

Chapter 10
1. The Lord said to Moses: “Come to Pharaoh, for I have hardened his heart and the heart of his servants, in order that I may place these signs of Mine in his midst,

It is the command form of “go” and can also be translated as “come.”
The two are related of course: go and come.

This is the time of year that people make resolutions. They want to lose weight. They want to eat right. They want to be better with money.

But, there, even in that list you can see that the focus is broken. The focus is on self. The focus is on “I”. Apple is a genius at the subtle marketing of “I.” Why? Because it works! People ARE self focused! We want to please ourselves!

Parasha Noach…

Don’t Disqualify Yourself from God’s Big Plans.
He’s simply looking for lovers.
Can you be one?

We need to get into our head that the Word is filled with Heroes of God – who were just flesh and blood like us. Men and women of renown who put on their pants (or robes?) one leg at a time. There are many of these “ordinary” heroes in the word. In fact, the author of Hebrews says that he can’t cover Gideon, Samson, David(!) and others in his “Hall of Faith” because there simply isn’t enough time.

There are many commonalities in the lives of these “Heroes.” They are infinitely human, fallible, and sinful. They repent in sincerity. They enter into relationship with whole hearts – trusting fully God’s word and thereby God Himself. In other words, they have faith. They believe God to be real – even if they have not seen Him face to face. They have intimacy with God. They leave behind … everything; friends, family, homes, wealth, dignity, pride – they leave it ALL behind simply to be with the one they love!

They simply say, “Yes,” when God asks them to do something.

They say “Yes.”

“Yes,” and their lives are radically shifted… Read the rest of this entry

Our Little Miracle Man…

This morning we took Lev for his last post-op doctor’s appointment. This one was with his primary care physician who will now be caring for him.

The doctor was amazed out how well he is doing and I (Rosemary) told her that we believe his speed of recovery has been supernatural.

And you know what the doctor said? She actually … agreed. The doctor actually said, “This recovery is a miracle.”

Wow… just let that sink in. The doctor said Lev’s recovery is supernatural…

Lev’s Open Heart Surgery Update #5 – Friday, August 24th, 10:00 p.m.

The day began at 8 a.m. with the surgeon coming to visit. He wanted to go for a walk with Lev. Lev didn’t.

The surgeon insisted… Read the rest of this entry

Lev’s Open Heart Surgery Update #4 – Wednesday, August 22th, 10:00 p.m.

So the saga of tiny steps toward home continues with…

I had the distinct privilege to be the one to give Lev tiny nibbles of burrito(!), tiny spoonfuls of vanilla pudding(!), and sips of milk(!) at around 6:45 this evening!

Food, is of course, kinda a big deal… Read the rest of this entry

Lev’s Open Heart Surgery Update #3 – Wednesday, August 22th, 10:30 a.m.

I don’t know if you’ve ever had a little person in the hospital (for an extended period of time), but if you have, you know that the “healing” process is really a “removing” process. The goal is to get your little person out of the hospital without any of the tubes, wires, etc. stuck to them. In fact, nearly every time, the hospital will only release you when EVERYTHING has been removed. We are remembering the excitement we had with Lev’s previous surgeries (Click here for 1st Surgery and 2nd Surgery Blog links) as “things” were removed! May it come increasingly swiftly, God!

So when Rosie called me this morning (she spent the night with Lev at the hospital) and told me that they were going to be removing the pacemaker leads from Lev – we were both very excited! Our surgeon came by this morning (at 5:30 a.m.!) … Read the rest of this entry

Lev’s Open Heart Surgery Update – August 21st 9:11 a.m.

Hi, Everyone!

Lev is in surgery. The pre-op preparations went very well. Lev was relaxed, distracted (by movies), and very helpful. He didn’t even mention his hunger from fasting all morning!

The picture of Lev lifting his shirt is to show where the surgeon drew a picture of a turtle on his chest… His own personal touch!

Thank you for your prayers! We love you all!

Lev’s Open Heart Surgery Update #1 – Monday, August 20th, 10 p.m.

It is finally time! After months of preparation Lev is entering the hospital tomorrow (at 6 a.m.!) for his final open heart surgery.

For those of you who don’t know the ongoing story of Lev and his heart please go to and read up on his first two surgeries. You can also go to some of the posts (here and here) to read about Lev’s catheter procedure earlier this year to “make sure” he was a good candidate for his open heart surgery. Or you can go to the “Categories” bar and open it up to “Pediatric Open Heart Surgery” to read all of our previous posts about Lev.

The picture above is the diagram of the “Fontan” procedure that Lev will undergo tomorrow. For those of you who are not into the medical mumbo-jumbo here are the stats:

Barefoot Running. Day 59. Perhaps ninjas never get plantar fasciitis?

I know… I know… I’m getting weirder and weirder (as if that was possible!) And, I know, weirder isn’t a word… But it should be. Because it would accurately reflect by growing obsession to destroy plantar fasciitis in my life.

First it was the awkward sock (paging doc Strassburg).

Then … cadence. Then … 100 ups. Then … barefoot!

As my battle with plantar fasciitis rages I find myself torn between two worlds of advice – and I find myself becoming more and more … strange …

Until, finally, I find myself here. In my bedroom with scissors, a hammer, a leather punch, a ballpoint pen, a bobby-pin, some rubber, some nylon, and … a lighter.

What are you doing, Ruby? Did you turn to meth, Ruby? Have you lost your mind, Ruby? …

“No” to the meth. “Perhaps” to the losing of my mind. And “yes” to building my own pair of “Invisible Shoes” (soon to be XEROSHOES)…
